Taranto is a coastal city in Apulia, Southern Italy. It is the capital of the Province of Taranto and an important commercial port, as well as Italy’s main naval base and the third-largest mainland city in Southern Italy. Taranto features a beautiful cathedral and a picturesque fishing port, along with excellent theatres, vibrant nightlife, and delicious local cuisine. It lies at the historic crossroads of Magna Graecia and the Appian Way. The city overlooks a large natural harbor with turquoise waters, and it enjoys a generally mild, moderate climate for most of the year.
